If you’ve been following my IG account, you probably knew that I went back to Guam last December and that I spent most of my days shopping! Too bad we went there after Black Friday sale. Nevertheless, my husband and I scored awesome deals during our stay.
New Year’s Day at Pico de Loro Cove – Pros, Cons and Honest Review
Saturday, January 27, 2018We started waiting for the clock to strike 12:00 by having dinner and entertaining ourselves with several games. For dinner we had fried chicken, lettuce and apple salad, toasted garlic bread, and some leftover pasta. At 9:00 PM, Pico de Loro was still fairly quiet which I like. Despite being on the upper ground floor at Jacana, I believe Pico de Loro Cove did a great job when it came to soundproofing.
When everyone had consumed their food, we started entertaining ourselves. My sister prepared two games fit for all ages. The first one was Chubby Bunny which was pretty funny initially, until it wasn’t too challenging enough for every pair. I must say, I was a bad guinea pig when my sister and I had to demonstrate how Chubby Bunny works. I couldn’t stop laughing at my own doing, while I had to control my (TMI!) saliva from dripping.
Day 2 (December 31)
I find it annoying too, that even my grandmother (who’s on a wheelchair and suffering from Alzheimer’s disease), had to be brought in the clubhouse just so the staff can see the exact persons on the guest list. After paying that much, here’s another rule that brought us inconvenience. It wouldn’t hurt to bring in their staff, knock on each unit, bring a guest list and check our names and hand our arm bands. After all, each building had receptionists and staff who could take a peek at the unit and see if there’s any unlisted guest. This was very inconsiderate of them. Anyway, we just let it go instead of ruining our moods. We headed to the Jacana unit to have our late breakfast and to spend some time with the family.
New Year’s Celebration at Pico de Loro Cove – Tips & Truths for Guests
Wednesday, January 17, 2018Ah 2018, you’re finally here! For anyone who struggled in 2017, the New Year comes with a promise of a fresh start. I myself felt like the previous year had too many challenges, that they somehow overshadowed both small and big blessings that came my way.
Our fifth morning in Paris was a bit melancholy, for we have to bid adieu to 1st Arrondissement. We were flying to Dubrovnik in the afternoon and by the time we go back to Paris, we'd be staying at a different hotel and location. As always, Paris morning was as confused as ever, unsure if the cloudy skies would give way to Mr. Sunshine.
Instead of going to our usual boulangerie at Rivoli Cafe, we opted for McDonald’s at the corner of Rue de Rivoli and Rue de l’Échelle. Inside McDonald’s is McCafe, which was somehow packed with people in the morning. Queuing at the cashier took a long time because of the amount of people grabbing their breakfast before going to work. Plus the crew had to manage the cash register AND make coffee and hot chocolate herself, which took a tedious process far from the instant serving of hot beverage we're used to (talk about multi-tasking!). Nevertheless, it was worth the wait because by the time my husband got his order, he was given freshly baked croissants straight from the oven.
After a quick lunch and stroll at 5th arrondissement (Latin Quarter), our next destination was Trocadéro. Even when we’ve been here the day before, my husband and I ventured to this place once again, for the time we had yesterday was too short. The views would also be different this time, as we went out during the day towards Tour Eiffel.
We hopped on the Big Bus Paris’ tour bus going to 8th and 16th arrondissement in Paris before hopping off at Trocadéro. There were many people enjoying the view of the Eiffel Tower at this time of day, grabbing the opportunity to take fantastic photos while the sun’s still up. It’s only apt that we do the same too, so we set-up our very useful tripod for our couple shots around Paris.
